1832 William Brooks Receipt
To David Green and Sary Green
NOTE: The
receipt to David Green involves what appears to be Alfred Ledbetter who came
into the Brooks family in 1830 when he married the widow (Temperance Jane Tucker)
of James Brooks who died in 1829. The
“Wm. Brooks” is William Brooks II, brother of James Brooks and son of
William Brooks I. William Brooks II was
deeded land from the heirs of Jacob Green earlier in 1832. Jacob Green was the father of Sinthia or Siddy Green, wife of
Ezekiel Brooks, another son of William Brooks I. And, Jacob’s 2nd wife, Sarah may
be a Brooks. The “Sary”
Green mentioned here may be her.
