Receipt of Jonathon Austin

To Sarah Green

NOTE: The Sarah Green mentioned here is the second wife of the late Jacob Green. Hardy is his son. It is known that Siddy Green (who married Ezekiel Brooks) was Sarah's step-daughter. Jonathan Austin here is probably the son of Bryant Austin Sr. and father of Bryant Deberry Austin, local justice of the peace. Bryant Austin, Esq. was Jonathan's brother. Jonathan Austin was born c1785.

Many transactions were conducted for this particular Green family, copies of which (if not the originals) were kept in the family papers of William Brooks II. Does this indicate that Sarah was a Brooks? Should it also indicate that she was older than William Brooks II, possibly an aunt or older sister of him? I put this document in the order I did because I believe it to have occurred around 1832. That’s just a guess.
