There were a few Kennedys
that married some of our Brooks kin. And
this page is devoted to them and to one particular family… that of Vance Drye Brooks and his wife, Laura Lee Kennedy. Vance is the son of James Elexander
Brooks (a grandson of David
Brooks of Stanly Co, NC and son of William R. Brooks and Mary Perlina Huneycutt) and Maggie Drye (who is the daughter of Charles Albert Drye and Lydia Adeline Brooks, daughter of "Coffee John" Brooks). There's a lot of Brooks in this family! You may have seen the name Janette Brooks
Barbee on this website… there's a good reason!
She is the daughter of Vance and Laura Kennedy Brooks and the person
responsible for the virtual "flood" of Brooks
photos that have been coming in since her initial contributions to this site…
in her words, she "started something!" And it's been one of the greatest joys of my
life and I hope for the rest of you as well!
