You may have heard me mention that William and James Henry Brooks (sons of James Brooks of Montgomery Co, NC) went to Arkansas about 1840 or so. Well… several other families went as well. Hester Brooks was a daughter of James Brooks also and had married Nathaniel Duncan Shinn (later a lawyer and Congressman) and had gone too. A family of Reeds, Teeters, Coopers… etc.. etc… the list goes on. So, Pope Co, AR is basically a bunch of North Carolinians! J Anyway, a website devoted to the Teeter family can be found HERE and contains photos of this family… as well as James L. Teeter's wife, Sarah Ellen Brooks, daughter of this very William Brooks!
