District, SC). Jesse married c1810 Anne
Phillips before leaving Anson Co, NC. He
is rumored to have passed away in Dora, Walker Co, AL. Researcher

Cornelius Bradford Brooks
C.B. was apprenticed as a printer to Thomas Eccles in 1844 in Lincoln County,N.C. He was only 10. All the others seemed to stay in
groups but him. He ran away in 1850 and is listed in the newspapers as such. He
was then 16. He came to Darlington,S.C. and started a Newspaper called the FAMILY FRIEND. He
had worked for the Darlington Flag. He married in 1859 and went to Texas and started the RISING SUN in Livingston, Polk Co,
TX. The war started and he joined Wauls Texas Legion. Captured and paroled at Vicksburg. Assigned to Special Services and seems to have
encountered Ben (Brooks) They would have been a good
match. C.B. and Ben had a newspaper in Memphis called THE DAILEY REVIEW. C.B.'s
wife ran a boarding house as her mother had in Darlington.(Her
name was Eliza Jane Summerford). She died from illness
in Memphis in 1867-illness derived from sinking of a river boat
after the war when she and family were in the Mississippi several hours. C.B. moved to Searcy, AR AND Ben Brooks went to Nashville. C.B. is rumored to have been killed in 1870 in White County when KKK trouble erupted .Probably wrote something he regreted. (from Jim S. Brooks)

then Winston County, Alabama.
Emma Brooks
seems to have been spinster and died in Rutherford, N.C. about 1890

Jemima Brooks Jones obit notice in Cherokee County stated that Jesse and Ann Phillips Brooks came down from "Ansonville" in 1831
