Notice of William Brooks

Estate Sale  9 Oct 1846

Notice

 

The subscriber having obtained letters of

administration on the estate of William Brooks

Decd. at October term of Union County Court

1846 will by virtue of and order of said

Court proceed to sell on the 22nd and 23rd days of

December next at the late residence of the

Deceased the following Negro slaves viz Woods

Fanny Betsey Mariah Ben George Eliza Lear

Vinny Sam Harod Dick Peter an a credit of

12 months bond and two or more good securities

will be required

          Also at the same time and place

4 head of horses 8 head of cattle about 40 head

of hogs about 15 head of sheep household and

kitchen furniture and all of the present crop of corn

and fodder oats wheet and one set of black

blacksmiths tools one Roadwagon and hornice

and sundry of other articles and a credit of 12

months will be given bond and approved security

required  October 9th Day  1846

          Further Notice

 

All persons indebted to said Estate ar Required

make immediate pay ment all persons

having claims against the Estate are required

to present them for payment within the time

limited by law or this notice will be pleaded

in bar of that Recovery   October 9 Day 1846

BCBNOTE:  This estate sale is for William Brooks II who died 13 Jul 1846.  It mentions names of 13 slaves that I'm sure would be helpful in African American searches.  the Lydia Brooks and "Calvin" mentioned above are both children of William Brooks II… as is Cullen Brooks (Culpeper P. Brooks), the administrator of his will.
